Behind the scenes with Chris at City House

About 4 years ago, we decided to walk to a restaurant a few blocks away from where we live. Everyone we knew was ranting and raving about how amazing the food was, but also mentioned you HAD to have a reservation to get in. So one night on a whim, we decided to walk there and see if we could get in…

The hostess was super cute, and so friendly, and she said she could seat us on their patio. That night was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. We have gone every Friday since then(minus just a handful) and it has been such an intrical part of our marriage.(Not to mention the food is AMAZING!) It became our regular date night, and it was the thing we looked forward to most every week. The staff really became like our family. It became, and still is, our “cheers”. We love everyone there and love hearing about their lives, and most of us our friends on social media of course. I’d even say i’ve made one of my dearest friends there, miss Erica. (a girl of many talents -i will definitely be featuring her on here one day soon!)If you go, she’s most likely the face you see when you check in. And actually, Tandy the owner and head chef of City House, Just won a #JamesBeard Award for Best Chef this past week!!!! That’s such a GIANT accomplishment, and well deserved!!!! (Read the article all about it here)WE LOVE YOU TANDY!!! Anyhow, when we were given the opportunity to have a behind the scenes with Chris, their head bartender, I said…. OK!!!!!!

So Chris Said I could pick a drink I wanted to try, and I told him I wanted to try his favorite too! So The first cocktail he made me was The Samson. I didn’t know if I’d like this, BUT I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT. I think it’s one of my faves now. It’s Averell Damson Gin, Cocchi Torino, Angostura, Grapefruit, Bitter Lemon Soda. A cup full of refreshing yumminess. I loved that it had some bubbles in it. Bubbles are my favorite. I really enjoyed chatting with Chris, and hearing about his life, his beautiful family,  and how he got where he is today. He actually went to culinary school too! So cool!

For the 2nd drink He mixed up The Moose. It’s one I had been wanting to try for awhile. Inside this cup of goodness you will find Cynar, House-Infused Lemon Vodka, Peach Bitters, Bitter Lemon Soda. WHOA. ALL YUMMMMMM. Their house infused lemon vodka is so delicious. I could put that in everything. I appreciated the passion he shared with us as he was making these drinks. It’s awesome to know the people making your food and drinks really care. I love that. Chris was mentioning how much he loved the food there, and how the staff is like family. I just think that is so awesome, and makes me love them all even more.

If you are in Nashville, or live here and haven’t been to City House, GO! You won’t regret it. Tell them that we sent you! My favorite pizza is the Belly Ham, and the Margherita. Of course everything else there is amazing, and the dessert is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Thanks to Chris and everyone at City House for having us!
