Eliza, the master shoe artist

Every week I feature someone I find inspiring, and empowering. And most of you know, we need that in people in these crazy times we are going through. More women who challenge us to be the best, and women who go for their dreams! Well, when I met Eliza, I didn’t realize just how amazing she was. I knew I totally loved her style. Everytime I ran into her, I loved her outfit. She was always so sweet and genuine too. Which says a lot about a person. Well little did I know that she was also an amazingly talented shoe designer. Her designs are magnificent and she is SO INCREDIBLY TALENTED! She moved here from NYC and fits right in. In fact, she’s probably cooler than most people. AND SHE IS MY NEIGHBOR. I knew I had to feature her and share her talents with all my friends. The shoes she designs are amazing and I can’t wait to get some of my own!  This girl is definitely a #girlboss. So  please, check out this amazing interview….. and Meet Eliza!

Tell us about yourself!

I am currently the design manager of Women’s Footwear for  Johnston & Murphy and H.S Trask.  I moved to Nashville from New York city where I worked for FRYE to head up the design of H.S.Trask., Three and a half years later I now oversee and orchestrate the design of both brands: from concept, finding the right materials to final product. I love what I do, it is a creative job that forces you to think ahead and in a way predict the future… Before starting a new collection I  ask ”what do women want to where a year from now considering were trend is going and what they might already have in their closet.”

The classic Johnson & Murphy woman is a career woman looking for elegance, style and comfort. We design shoes that can be worn straight from the boardroom to a cocktail party. A fashion forward career woman.

The  H.S. Trask brand is a rustic Americana Brand with an edge towards the luxury outdoor life. A comfortable chic playful stylish woman who summers in Aspen or Jackson Hole.  Being able to work in two such different  brands is what makes it interesting.

What is your Fave Song?  My favorite song is Lazaretto by my all time favorite musician/ crush, Jack White. It incorporates some Spanish lyrics… ”Yo trabajo duro, Como en madera y yeso” (I work hard as wood and plaster) I wonder how he came up with it since it is not a traditional saying. Maybe it is and he can tell me over a cocktail 🙂

What’s your favorite style to wear? My style is what I call a uniform; Jeans and a blazer, Also since 85% of my closet is all black, it is hard not to look like I am wearing a uniform! I like to accessories my ”uniform” with bold chunky jewelry and killer shoes. Now that I think about it I have an addiction with shoes/ blazers/ hats and jewelry… That’s what happens when you work in fashion I guess.

What’s your guilty pleasure Go-To snack?  If you know me you know that I LOVE food. I am more likely to snack on something savory than sweet but there is a cake that I just love. From Lady M Confections in New York. It is a Crepes cake that is about twenty paper thin handmade crepes with a light pastry cream. Any time I am in New York I have to get a slice.

What’s your MUST HAVE beauty item that you can’t live without? My Sysley Paris eye and face creams make me feel luxurious. The idea of ending the day with a feeling as if I just stepped out of a spa makes me smile!

Who’s the most influential person in your life?  My mother who was the light and spark of my life, I am all that I am and will be because of her beauty and joy.

What’s the one thing you want to accomplish that you haven’t yet? To do a shoe collaboration with Isabel Marrant and to own a lil place in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

What’s your favorite thing in your closet? Right now it is probably one of my kimonos. When I am feeling like I want to mix it up and give my blazer a break I go to a Kimono. I just find them so chic and feminine.

What’s your favorite inspirational quote?  Well i can’t decide between two. When I want to make some one smile I like the quote From the poet and sage Miley Cyrus “Looking like a model who just got a check” and When I mean business I like Jack White; Lazaretto ”When I say nothing, I say everything.”

Here are some of Eliza’s amazing shoes from the Johnston & Murphy / Trask Lines!
