My favorite Hipster Carpenter, Meet Jesse!
I met Jesse a few years back when I worked with his Hair Guru fiancé -Brittany. We became really good friends at the salon we worked at and thought, hey we should have our men meet each other! They hit it off and we’ve all been such great friends ever since! Well, Jesse is very humble, but he is AMAZINGLY talented. He is one BAD A carpenter. I have been telling him for ever to go out on his own because he is so incredibly talented. Well he finally did! He and his friend started a new company, based here in Nashville called SS WoodWorking. Let’s be honest, it’s all because of me. JUST KIDDING. The creations he makes out of wood are so gorgeous. I’m like- how are you not making a million dollars from your creations by now! I now carry his goods in my shop, so be sure to come by and grab one of his gorgeous cutting boards or coaster sets! I’m so thrilled to be featuring him today. Because not only do I believe in him and his new business venture, but he’s just a down to earth, sweet, humble friend. Him and Brittany have been some of our biggest supporters no matter what, and that’s a quality that is hard to come by. OH, and I do like his style! He is the original Nashville hipster:) I hope you love him as much as I do, Meet my friend Jesse!
Tell us about yourself!
Hi, my name is Jesse and I’m a woodworker. I’ve been making custom furniture professionally for almost 2 years. Was a carpenter doing renovations and additions for about 7 years before I started building furniture. I think everyone in my family has spent some time building, or working with their hands. I probably learned the most important things about what I do from my father and grandfather. Although, everyone can have good advice and I seek it often from my 2 oldest brothers and my mother, along with my father.I love what I do and there is nothing else I’d rather be doing! S&S Woodworking is the name of the business my friend Shelton and I recently started. Aside from that, I am happily engaged to a beautiful woman(Brittany), and we have a big goofball of a dog named Amos.
What’s your favorite song right now?
I feel like all I’ve been listening to lately is music we want for our wedding. I love Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, and stuff like that. If I had to pick one song right now though, it would probably be Barcelona by Ed Sheeran.
What’s your favorite style to wear?
I like to think I keep it pretty simple and classic. Jeans, t-shirt, flannel over it, and boots.
What’s your favorite guilty pleasure snack-go-to?
What’s your must have beauty item that you can’t live without?
Who’s the most influential person in your life and why?
This is hard. All my family has influenced me in different ways, and I couldn’t answer this without including them. But right now, Brittany would be. I can be a hard person to love sometimes, but she makes it look easy and doesn’t give up on me. We do everything together and I think we influence each other a lot, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What’s the one thing you want to accomplish that you haven’t yet?
At this point in my life this is an easy question. Have a family, be able to provide for them and them be proud of me.
What’s your favorite thing in your closet?
A way too small, t-shirt of a band I used to be in called Greenwell. Thank you, Brandon.
What’s your favorite inspirational quote?
“If you don’t believe in yourself, why is anyone else going to believe in you.” Tom Brady
