Life is like a box of chocolates…..
So this past weekend was surely an adventure. We just got home yesterday from our adventure….So the weekend started out pretty good. Here’s real life, we are an up and coming pop duo. We are awesome, it’s just that no one knows it yet:) We had a show in Detroit, then in Cleveland the next day. Well the week before the Detroit Show was cancelled. That’s fine. NO biggie. So we left Saturday for our 8 hour trip, dogs and RV all along for the ride. (our trailer lights were giving us a slight issue but no biggie)
We were having a great ride actually, ahead of schedule. Looking forward to a great show and seeing some old friends. Stopped for some lunch right before hitting Columbus and kept on traveling. Then BOOM, THUD, uh oh, we have a flat on the trailer! LUCKILY I had just got a spare for the trailer the day before, so we are good. We pull over in the heat, and my AMAZING hubby gets in gear to change this bad boy.I mean let me take a minute to brag on him, HE IS SO WONDERFUL. He provides, and is such a killer problem solver. He doesn’t even act like conflict phases him. He really is so amazing. The dogs and I get out of the van and wait in the grass. I can feel the chiggers biting. (EWWW). Then the hub says, “you’re not going to believe this, but this is the wrong spare!” OMG. SERIOUSLY.
Well this sucks. At this point we are not sure if we are going to make it to the show. We luckily are close to the city, and close to a towing place. So we got a tow. By now we are set to arrive 3 hours later than planned. We also find out at the tire place not only are they about to close, but b/c we have a vintage RV, we have a rare and hard to find old wheel. So it might be mondayISH when we can fix the trailer……
We call the promoter of the show, and he is UBER cool . It’s at his neighborhood block party and he is so reassuring it’s all going to be ok. So we get there late,(LIKE SO LATE) but they are so cool and supportive. It was actually one of the best shows we’ve ever had.(THANKS TERRI!) We didn’t have time to sound check, I was setting up merch, and greg was setting up lights and sound as all the people were already there. But it was fine. I am such a planner and OCD but I guess it wasn’t supposed to go perfectly this day, and God still worked it out. We were safe, and we made enough to pay for all the damages . Not to mention our amazing friends who we hadn’t seen in a while, took us in for 4 days. That’s pretty awesome. We were able to meet their new baby, see their other baby who is not a baby anymore, and just kinda relax -despite having 1 outfit and 2 pairs of underwear. We were also able to explore the cute little town, and see its beautiful waterfalls, shops, and restaurants. So moral of the story, life is like a box of chocolates, you really never know what you’re gonna get. But just go with the flow, it will turn out just fine if you keep your faith and good attitude. Cuz what else can you do?
