Meet Kathleen, she’s the new girl in Nashville!

girl with red hair in hat

I have been following Kathleen on IG for quite some time now. I finally got to meet her IRL, when we both went rollerskating for our gal pal’s bday party! That’s quite the way to get to know each other, let me tell you! But I figured anyone who would skate beside me for 2 hours and still like me, was a legit friend! She’s the sweetest and I think she is so inspiring! She has the cutest little boy, and I am always jealous of her gorgeous ginger locks! Plus, she is a fellow hat lover, so we are destined to be friends.  I’m so happy to have to her on the blog today and want you all to meet her too! So, meet my friend Kathleen!

Hi, I’m Kathleen! My handsome bearded husband and I packed up our puppy and our tiny home and moved to Nashville because we fell in love with this city during a visit a few short months earlier. We quickly envisioned ourselves growing babies and growing old here. I know God has big plans for us in this new city, and I’m still discovering little pieces of those plans each day. Since moving here, we’ve welcomed our son, Wyatt, and are currently expecting our second babe this summer.

I started the idea of The New Girl In Nashville over watermelon lemonade froyo with a friend, just one week before I moved to Nashville. I determined right then and there, over half frozen gummy bears and glazed strawberries that when I moved to this city, I would step out of my comfort zone and explore new places and meet new people. And document it for myself. As a reminder that new adventures and new friends are always worth it…and not as scary as I make them out to be in my mind.

What’s your favorite song right now?

Something Just Like This. I’ve loved Coldplay since day one and can’t get enough of their collab with The Chainsmokers.

What’s your favorite style to wear?

I used to be the girl that wore pops of colors and made sure my shoes always matched my bag, but then I moved to Nashville and quickly realized that Kate Spade colors weren’t the real me. If I’m out and about, you’ll probably find me wearing high-waisted skinnies, ankle boots, and a hat. At home, it’s the typical mom uniform of yoga pants and a tee.

What’s your guilty pleasure snack-go-to?

Halo Top ice cream. The sea salt caramel flavor!

What’s your MUST-HAVE beauty item that you can’t live with out?

A good face moisturizer is a must for me, especially with how dry it can be in Tennessee. I also feel a little naked if I don’t have some mascara on.

Who’s the most influential person in your life and why?

My sweet cousin, Jesslyn, who feels more like my sister than anything. We are close in age and both had our first babies 12 days apart so we’ve walked through many of the same things together. She has such a positive outlook and her encouragement and compassion are something I’m always trying to mirror more of.

What’s the one thing you want to accomplish that you haven’t yet?

I have always wanted to publish a coffee table book of fine art portraits. I love black and white images so I think it would look perfect in that style.

If you could give someone some great life advice, what would it be?

No is a complete sentence. Don’t feel the need to say yes to everyone and everything. As a (recovering) people pleaser, I wish I would have grabbed hold of this advice earlier in my life.

What’s your fave inspirational quote?

Create a life that feels good on the inside, not just one that looks good on the outside.

Where is one place you’d love to travel to?

Santorini islands in Greece. The white stucco, yummy Greek food, black sand beaches, and so gorgeous views!

What drives you and gives you passion in your profession?

Meeting new people and building relationships with other creatives! I love that Nashville is a very inclusive city-we enjoy cheering each other on and sharing things that might help others succeed as well.
