We are In Love With Brunch!
A few months ago we met another couple at a Superbowl party where we live. They had just moved here a few days before all the way from Australia. We ended up chatting the whole night and I really felt like not only did I already know this cool chick, but I knew I had made a friend. She and her hubby are both not only sweet and kind, but 2 of the most talented peeps I know. She’s a singer, food blogger, and she has killer curls. Her hubby is also an amazing pianist. True God Given talent. I am super inspired by her and her eye for tasty food. Her pictures make you drool for sure. Plus if you follow her on Instagram, You’ll know where to go eat! I knew I wanted to interview her for my blog, and I want everyone else to get to know her too! She’s In Love with Brunch, and we are in love with her. Meet Rosslyn!
Tell us about yourself!!
I’m an Aussie foodie who has recently moved from Melbourne to Nashville, Tennessee. Apart from loving all food, I particularly love brunch, so a couple of years ago I started a food blog called @inlovewithbrunch. Since then, I have been developing my food knowledge in one of the world’s biggest food scenes. I’ve been very fortunate to work with some incredible restaurants, brands and PR companies in Melbourne, London and Hong Kong – providing advice on the customer experience, consulting on branding and menus, and writing and photographing (and eating!) some of the best food ever.
My very talented husband is a musician, and last month we made the huge decision to move to Nashville where he can pursue his music dream. I’m excited to get involved in the Nashville food scene, and am encouraged to see how much the focus on quality produce, farm-to-table philosophy, and artisan coffee is beginning to infiltrate the American food culture!
What’s your fave song right now? Meaghan Trainor and John Legend ‘I’m gonna love you’ and anything by Adele… I’m a sucker for a good soulful voice!
What’s your favorite style to wear? Black on black on black…. It’s a Melbourne thing!
What’s your guilty pleasure snack-go-to? Tim Tams – my favourite Australian biscuit (cookie)
What’s your MUST-HAVE beauty item you can’t live with out? I have some skin allergies so have to be really careful what I use… at the moment I can’t live without Models Prefer BB cream, and I’m loving the Narciso Rodriguez perfume my little sister gave me for Christmas.
Who’s the most influential person in your life and why? Apart from Jesus, I would have to say my husband. His talent, discipline and dedication is inspiring. He’s a great sounding board when I’m not sure what to do, and he’s really good at keeping my tendency to worry, be anxious and be too serious in check.
What’s the 1 thing you want to accomplish that you haven’t yet? Go back to South Africa to see the town where I was born and take my husband on a safari!
What’s your favorite thing in your closet? My black leather jacket – I bought it on my first ever trip to Nashville four years ago and it has since been all over the world with me!
What’s your fave inspirational quote? Love her or hate her, this Margaret Thatcher quote has been one I’ve had pinned to my wall since I went for my first big promotion 6 years ago:
“What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose.”
